asahikawa Central Hokkaido's biggest city is Asahikawa. This vibrant northern city offers an excellent base for skiing nearby Kamui and Furano resorts. Kamui is about 30 minutes and Furano about 60 minutes. Both are conveniently accessed by regular trains and buses. Our Inn is only five minutes from both the train station and bus stops.

Our accommodation here is a classic family run Japanese inn right in the middle of the city. We have been staying here for over 25 years and the friendly atmosphere and helpful English speaking owner make this the perfect base in this city. Here you can combine the great powder skiing of the nearby resorts with the night life and culture of a major Japanese city.

asahi dake luxury accommodation Asahi Dake is the latest powder skiing sensation in Hokkaido. You will leave Asahikawa by bus for Asahi Dake. Here you will stay in a beautiful modern lodge (pictured above) with a choice of western or Japanese style rooms. The Inn has ensuites throughout and is 2 minutes walk from the base of the Asahi Dake gondola.

The powder at Asahi Dake will leave you speechless. This mountain is the highest in Hokkaido (2290M) and is still an active volcano. In the shadow of this peak lies some supeb lift accessed powder that will satisfy your deepest powder dreams.

There are set times for the bus to Asahi Dake so contact us prior to confirming your flights to ensure you can mesh with these arrangements. On application, we will arrange all transfers.

The gondola was built for the big summer crowds who flock to the highest mountain in Hokkaido. The mountain itself is still an active volcano with fumeroles gushing from its side.

Winter trade was always slow but over recent years, the secret has got out. The extraordinary quality of the powder, the constant top ups and the complete lack of grooming and ropes on 90% of the mountain make this one of the worlds best lift assisted powder skiing areas.
